It has been in the Stack for a while now but I keep seeing normies bring it up and it worries me. Not that I'm above liking something that normies like, it just raises questions. Is it good? Is it special?
In the book itself, it says that the reader will likely become obsessed with it. Perhaps not immediately, but a second reading is disrecommended. I have read it once and it sits on my bookshelf within view every single day. Maybe another read couldn't hurt...
it's a cool book, but for me it suffered a little from it having created that genre of sort of new horror. since I'd already read a lot of the genre I was like "oh one of these" when I think it was really inventive when it came out.
still worth it tho

pale fire does what it does (and far, far, better). But HoL has influenced a lot of Internet horror, and the good parts are good. Just be ready to slog through a catalogue of sex with alt-girls of every type
