American protests have transformed into something less serious and more comedic than anywhere else. It is something more than just the redditification of protesting - the cultural critique is low-hanging fruit best left to those filter feeders on Substack. I think what is more significant is the individualization of the act of protesting. There are no long banners of groups or organizations held by people walking ten-wide. It is a symptom of atomization and realizes itself in political non-action, exactly as the spooks designed it.
Westerners are too demoralized to do anything serious and the ones that try to don’t last very long because they either destroy themselves with infighting or don’t know how to organize properly.
Protests nowadays are about how clever you can make a sign to post on social media before you go home. I don't know if an effective form of protest still exists but when I see self-identifying center-left people defending this I immediately write dismiss it as useless.

Are they powerless?
Why do I have to submit to mouthing Leftism when in public, under threat of being made a janitor?
Why do taxes go to welfare queens?
Why is the Civil Rights Act allowed to contradict the Constitution by destroying freedom of association?
True. You didn't get the big one: ending private property. But haven't you got everything else?
What do people expect the left to do other than protest? They're powerless.

I meant that they are powerless in Congress.
>Why do I have to submit to mouthing Leftism when in public, under threat of being made a janitor?
Agreed.
>Why do taxes go to welfare queens?
Welfare queens went extinct in 1996 when Clinton replaced AFDC with TANF. Now there's a lifetime 5 year limit for welfare benefits (unless you're disabled.)
>>Why is the Civil Rights Act allowed to contradict the Constitution by destroying freedom of association?
Because of segregation? I do agree that the modern usage of Title II might be far-fetched.

Lefties LOVE "expressive politics" (useless shit-flinging) because they can't win at real politics -- winning majorities, writing policy, etc.
Liberals like "expressive politics" because it's something they can do without leaving bougie life.
Conservatives like "expressive politics" because it makes politics into something definite, structured, and susceptible to mockery and bad-faith
>post thread about specific facet of broader topic
>enter retards stage left and right with the same shit they've been talking about for 20 years online
Starting to become the Petrarchan experience. Admin better stop advertising on 4chan and wherever else. Pander to the boomers on Facebook if you have to. Anything to save this place..
You should really take a closer look at actual media of post-war protesting in the US if the point of this thread doesn't immediately register to you as a Thing
Here is the split in two facets: not just that they have social bonds and contacts with each other on the individual level (the surface analysis), but look at the signs. Labor organizations, community groups, religious groups, other social groups that, from the distant observation of America anno domini 2025, seem bafflingly useless such as the Rotary Club; all of these groups can coordinate on a level practically incomprehensible to the modern person. The media references and flat beer social media humor isn't the cause of this degradation in interpersonal community relations in the US, it just filled the hole that was there.
Protests are spectacles.
Here is some more handholding for you: this disintegration of social bonds manifests itself in the contradictory groups that do end up "representing themselves". This is also concurrent with the end of ideology that turn of the century philosophers have already demarcated, but again I am leaving cultural analyses out of this thread.
The above happens a lot at big music festivals and other events too. I passively watched some footage of Glastonbury and had fun seeing which flags flown in the crowd were orthogonal to each others' cause, if not outright contradictory.
A few weeks ago there was a big circlejerk on reddit because some Burger got harrassed by other waddling Burgers out of a "punk concert" in Vegas since he was wearing a shirt with some Nazi sensibility. And no one in any comment section went through any train of thought how this arose in the first place? That the default assumption was this guy was so clueless he didn't understand his ideology was opposite to that mentioned by some (not all) punk bands? Or that, like the protesters above, flags are a symbol of individual representation - repping - I'm here, I showed up, I'm representing my group, my people.. like a UN meeting in micro.
Nazi punks fuck off.
Oh come on now what the fuck even is this thread fucking high and mighty bullshit this forum sucks ass anyways there’s only like 70 different people here max who post at least once a year this just feels like a circlejerk for upper class smug coastal elites who never got over Bernie’s loss in 2016 and try to act intelectual or some shit because they read an obscure French book written by a sexual predator in 1964 or whatever.
Look man i know you’re the same guy all the threads last 4 hours you really think using “retard” in all your paragraphs makes you sound more interesting man the vibes on this board are horrendous everyone here should stick to Reddit or whatever gay website faggots love to suck each other off on, but this shitty forum already is anyway.

Not enough Lasch influenced peeps about
I have a question, out of pure interest
What is the best way for society and a person to get over narcissism? Interested in the way for the situations of society and a person
You just need to read TLP or Lasch to figure it out.
These protests are displays of narcissism, they exist as self gratification of the protesters, the politics are secondary or even totally irrelevant.
The idea that Trump would install himself as a king is, if anything, hilarious. Nobody can seriously believe it and that is also the point, if it was a realistic threat you would have to meet it with realistic opposition. Since the threat you are protesting against is ridiculous, it is perfectly fine that your protest is ridiculous.
All of these protests exist to sever the self image of the protesters. They exist to fuel their Instagram or Facebook feeds and to give them something to talk about. To feel self righteous and secured in their conviction. To demonstrate everyone that they are serious.
In the past protests were displays of force, they were intimidation of opponents, the individual subservient to the greater whole, dedicated to some cause. Now they exist to strengthen the self image of the protester.
The lesson is that these protests are ignorable. If I were in the process of installing a Fascist regime I would encourage protests like this. I would rest assured that the day I take the reigns of power nobody who ever has been to such a protest would dare to lift a finger against me. Every ounce of opposition fueling the narcism of the protestors.

I am paraphrasing TLP here: If you are trying to stop being a narcissist, there is no hope for you, you can't possibly succeed. If instead you are desperately trying to stop hurting the people closest to you, then maybe there is a chance.
More personally and practically, I think it is important to realize when you are suffering from a narcissistic injury. Feeling attacked for something said about you, which objectively wasn't insulting is an easy tell that your identity does not match the perception of others. Taking such a perceived attack and evaluating why the other person thinks that way about me or even might be correct.
I also think that building a real identity is important. The question of course is what is "real" and I think it is far easier to answer what isn't real. If you are passive it isn't real (e.g. being a fan of something). If it can be done with no effort it isn't real (e.g. choosing a side in politics). If not being able to tell anyone about it would make it seem irrelevant it isn't real (e.g. activism or posting travel photographs on Instagram). If the only reason to do it is because no one else is willing to give you more money for doing something else (your job, maybe). I am sure there are more, but if you took these away I think the majority of people could not figure out what to put after "I am ...".
The answer for the society wide changes is far easier: Nothing. Except for a catastrophic collapse, which leads to a radical reevaluation of society. Then the next generation could maybe grow up free from narcissism.
Currently every single possible indicator stands against change for the better. There are entire industries build around feeding narcissism. And with the current state of LLMs giving every single person a character in their lives which is specifically designed to validate everything about them, is almost a solved problem. To be honest we are pretty much here already, right know you can talk to ChatGPT and can hear how everything you do is great, how you are so great, how all your decisions are great. A character who will always apologize no matter how obviously wrong you are and who will validate you no matter what.

I've had to hear about Donald Trump almost every day for a decade. I understand to teenagers that doesn't seem like "happening" but a fish doesn't know it's swimming in water.
>>6032>>6026
There’s too many financial incentives in preventing a happening. That’s not to say the lever-pullers are omnipotent but I doubt anything will happen for the next few centuries beyond a consistent gradual decline of qol for the proles and an acceptance of that as the status quo
>>6041>>6026
Absolutely not. The treat tap is the most powerful set of chains ever invented. The spooks were fully able to decimate the underlying bonds of human culture in the United States and as such have moved their domain past that era of history when the populace revolting was enough to topple an empire.
Will anything ever happen in the US?
