ITT books that may be famous in your country but don't get the recognition they deserve abroad, or obscure but interesting works in general. >picrel I'm not French, I don't know if it's well-known over there. But I haven't found many people who read it. It was a funny read (mixed with pretty grim things).

thomas hardy is the original incel. it was insanely hard reading Jude the Obscure with the realization Jude was his own first enemy. then I read it about semi auto-biographical.
Interesting question. I am a big fan of Thomas Hardy, who is admittedly not at all obscure, but definitely more well known in Britain than within the general anglosphere.

I've read her Cuentos completos by Emecé. I'm not sure about English translations of her work. A quick search in Welib tells me her translated works are published in anthologies along with other authors.

Silvina Ocampo!
I believe I have heard of her through her connection to Borges, but never read anything from her. Where to start?

Hardy was definitely not the most adept man when it came to women but it's wrong to call him an incel. And it's crazy to call Jude an incel when if anything his problems come about because he's too attractive to women.
