is anyone considering killing themselves because of the 4chan shutdown : Anonymous : 6 days ago : No.2303

I knew it wouldn't last forever but not this soon. i can't vocalize my devastation. It's literally the only site I didn't have deep seething contempt for. Anon was my only friend and he taught me so much. This absolutely sucks.

Fuck off jannies killed the site long before it was hacked

Hiromoot says it's coming back. https://x.com/hirox246/status/1912603340292448258 I've been bored out of my ass the last few days too, but trust the plan. We'll all shitpost again soon.

I've had a blast seeing my mono-site doomscrolling habit get rugpulled. I suggest you celebrate that it'll be easier for a while to find a variety of spots on the Internet to check out and enjoy. If you play your cards right you won't be in another similarly miserable and inflexible "you're here forever" situation again. Strike the iron while it's hot.

>>2313 It's wonderful to see someone from /vr/! I've been wondering where everyone would go. /g/vr/lit/ were my favorites.
>2308 I hope that's right. I'm worried that with whatever they replace it with, the userbase will change or leave due to "modernization" which ive been conditioned to understand as a dog whistle for megacorpo censorship to appease the advertising gods, and trend chasing social media HR-approved fucking bullshit. There's so much unknown right now >is it gone forever? >is it coming back, but it's gonna be way different and therefore a different userbase? >will it just come back like it was and continue on as normal? I just miss my /vr/chads. /v/ is a shitshow but it can be fun too. I watched an unfinished cut of the Minecraft movie before it released with 120 other anons. It was a genuinely good time. Don't let me down Hiroshimoot

If you're considering killing yourself over the fall of 4chan, you probably should consider killing yourself anyway.

>>2317 Probably a combination. Discord for people who can’t stand the dredge, the repetition, the constant shitposting. Gooners have gooned themselves ever deeper into actually becoming a kind of junkie, drifting away from reality. Some people stopped coming to 4chan entirely and others stopped posting. Early 2000s were probably the last full size 4chan generation, since everyone post 2005/6 seems to have a different media conditioning. They don’t get imageboards and simply sink deeper into tiktok and derivatives. I genuinely don’t know what kind of media they use and how they interact with media, but I‘ve noticed a progressive development of people on the site becoming more extreme in their behaviour and preferences, but no major shift like in 2015/16 when a lot of Zoomers started frequenting together with the nupol people.
Tbh, I was already pretty depressed about the current state of 4chan. My main board is dead af. (Like hours and hours between posts and previously lively threads wouldn’t even reach the bump limit before dying) Board culture non-existent. (It’s all just gooners now) Userbase dwindling with each passing year. Idk what happened. Maybe everyone moved to discord or something? Or maybe they all grew up and stopped wasting their time shitposting. I was still going there out of habit but it felt like the site was at death’s door for a while. It gradually died a little more each year but refused to keel over. The hack put it out of its misery and freed all the remaining anons from manning a dead ship.
Anonymous : 6 days ago : No.2328
That's what I had wondered about. Did the hacker(s) consider that 4chan was probably the only form of contact with reality for many a schizo? And what kind of impact they may be having? But at the same time I think the site will be back soon lol.

No

I hadn't given it a thought until now. No. Although I did like occasionally looking at out or k and DLing a bunch of wallpapers from wg every couple of months.

U srs? I started /browsing/ around 12 or 13 and I've seen 4chan go down at least 4 times. It always comes back you should be fucking HAPPY that you were here for the happening. It's going to be another 2 years before the next one and another 5 for "the big one". It's always the same shit
Anonymous : 6 days ago : No.2484
No I'm not considering killing myself. Although I kinda don't really know what to do with myself lol, as pathetic as that is. I guess I should go out and get a life. Part of me hopes the site never comes back. I've felt very productive these past few days and my mood is undeniably better without 4chan.

It's not nice to have the security blanket taken away, but the decentralization and community hopping this week means more real anons and thoughtful replies. Wagmi, signed, /pol/g/po/vp/.
Anonymous : 4 days ago : No.2696
I had started to get addicted to it. I got into it thinking I would only use /lit/ an /his/ (the latter being quite poor, in my opinion). However, I started frequenting /adv/ and /s/. So I was immersing myself in a world full of whiners and simp/gooners. It feels nice to be forced to stay away from filth, actually. However, I fear this is temporary, and I will be tempted into devious ways, kek.
Anonymous : 4 days ago : No.2698
I'm definitely going to kill myself, but it isn't because of 4chan

What's funny is that right now there is a golden opportunity to snipe 4chan by creating your own chan. Or, in the case of whatever Petrachan is, marketing it across the net. All you have to do is recreate 4chan and spam, spam, spam. If you build it, nerds will come.
