Previous: >>4chan.org /wg/ AUTHORS & FLASH FICTION: https://pastebin.com/ruwQj7xQ RESOURCES & RECOMMENDATIONS: https://pastebin.com/nFxdiQvC === WHEN POSTING FOR CRITIQUE === - State whether you want feedback on prose, dialogue, pacing, general impressions, or if anything at all is fine. - Give context. Short story, essay, chapter from a novel? Is it genre fiction? Standards and expectations vary based on what you're writing. - If it's a first draft, say so. Most anons aren't willing to critique low effort writing samples, so edit and proofread. - Images are more frequently engaged with than links, but do as you please. Pastebin often rejects content and doesn't allow italics, so rentry.co is the suggested alternative. You're asking for a stranger's time and effort. Put some of your own in. === BEGINNER RESOURCES === These address mistakes often seen in excerpts posted here. Anons, do you follow a writing schedule / routine? I write primarily poetry or essay-type texts, and I mainly write when motivated by inspiration. Like, a line or an idea comes to me, I sometimes sketch it out over a short period of time, and then try to mold it over a longer period. Occasionally, the entirety of the text will come to me and I won't require the molding period. Generally though, some editing is required. However, I do think about adopting a dedicated "hour of writing" a day. I am convinced by the concept of writing as a skill and, if left alone, it grows dull. I'm pretty bad at following routine though. I can stick with it for a bit, and then I grow antsy or bored. Is there good reason to do it?

>>2102 I definitely also get the writing urge and inspiration at night. Not sure why, but does seem common for writers or at least the creating types to enjoy the night. I would love to have a habit of being up at 5 to 6, but I like sleep too much. Should just make it an everyday thing, but I often get to bed at 11 or 12 and I really operate optimally at 8 hours of sleep.
how the fuck do you reply to a comment on this nigger site? >1898 I usually write late in the night, after people are asleep. I dont have a "writing" hour, but starting time, let's say 9:30 or so and then I write however long stamina allows me to write. Sometimes its 1 hour, sometimes 3. I prefer to be in bed early so i try not to stretch it out to much, if i have writing left to do I wake up earlier in the morn, 5-5:30 and finish it then. Plus you get to enjoy a nice quiet time of the day before everyone gets up and the rush starts.

>>2114 He posted an image to a new internet refuge called petrachan. He never heard of it before, however 4chan lit board was taken down, and there were only few places to go. The image he posted contained a children's cartoon character named liciktung. The massive gaping mouth of the Pokemon were hungrily devouring a young blond woman. She was without any dress and visibly exposed her breasts to the world. It was a caricature post made by a caricature of the contemporary man. Without a doubt the poster could no longer be pleased by simple women who crossed his path everyday, therefore he had to go to the most disturbed places on the web to satisfy his algorithm induced desires. It was doubtful that even his porn choices wwere his own, As he awaited for a fellow anon to write a story for him, unable to do so himself, mostly due to a decade of exposure to 21st century version of pictographic languages, endless attentionspan ruining 3 second video reels, he could no longer conjure up any ability for prolonged focus and discipline. Dopamine was readily available to him, cheap and highly stimulated. He could no longer perform any long term tasks deemed neccesery to participate in society; making a post with a provocative image was most laborious task he performed since clock turned New Years and he had to step outside to compliment his eyes with a firework show, before huridly returning to his fungus smelling den of filled trash bins and laundry. he awaited with excitment, expecting a story which would allow him to empty his seed into another tissue, prolonging his parent's wait for a grandchild for another day. But there was none, for he was pitied by a writer instead of him being indulged.

>>4256 Why not just work on that scene? Focus on it as a piece in itself and make it self-contained. Doing that precisely and with brevity is a challenge in itself. How long is it so far?
I had an idea for a short story where one scene towards the middle was the key to the whole thing. I wrote that scene, was very happy with how it came out, and now lost all drive on how to finish it. I feel like I accomplished what I wanted to with the story even though I objectively didn't - I didn't finish the damn thing! Anyone have any advice for getting back into it? It's been a bit over a month.

>>4257 Because the scene itself is the payoff, a description of a train going through gorgeous vistas after the first part of the story is set in ugly, uncomfortable, stagnant environments. I almost want to just write a collection of pretty landscape descriptions at this point.

Has anyone here successfully published piece? Especially for money. It's a secret dream of mine to do that. Even if it's just beer money. But is it all just who you know? Does cold sending really work? Do I need to network and connect with the right people?

And by publish, I mean in a "real" magazine, not in a zine or whatnot.
Anonymous : 33 days ago : No.5211
>4261 I mean that sounds pretty interesting on its own. Not every piece of prose needs to be a complete story arc. Snippets of beauty, etc. can hold on their own.
