In any way, shape, or form—whether it's your own choices or your parents'. For me, I wish I'd been nudged into combat sports early on. I wanted to experience defeat in a visceral, physical, 1v1 way—where there is no clever comeback and no team to blame. Even better would have been developing a genuine infatuation with math—to be charmed by it, to visualize it within, and to never view it as just a career-required skill. But most profound of all would be avoiding any contact with electionslop and experiencing practical governance first—to reside within the smoke-filled rooms where actual decisions are made.
Do you participate in combat sports now or are you just larping?
Never being exposed to the internet at a young age. Being steered toward literature and math. I've spent god knows how long trying to make up for the years I wasted on the 'puter.
I wish I'd been raised with C-SPAN on the TV rather then Fox News. Without trying to get too political, Fox News is slop.
I was a very lonely only child who had little contact with others outside of mandatory schooling. I wasn't part of some cult or raised under mentally ill neglectful parents, so my story isn't as dramatic or sympathetic as others'. I always had food and clothes at home. I took vacations and had other aspects of privilege that most around me didn't, like a passport. But my isolation permanently clouded my psyche and turned me into a schizoid recluse. Needless to say I swiftly coasted by all the normal childhood socialization milestones well into adulthood.
I wish my mother didn't have to raise me by herself, and that she didn't have to work those long hours, and that she yelled at me less, especially since most of the time it was for utterly trivial crap (or often, over absolutely nothing); though as an adult I have forgiven her for that.
I wish I lived somewhere where I either had family around, or friends and other community bonds, and I wish the other children at school weren't so cruel and disinterested in friendship. Wish school days were shorter and I had more free time.
I would have been a lot better off with an older mentor who could support my potential for learning instead of being dragged through the lowest common denominator "educational" system. I wish I had gotten into formally learning computers and other technical fields earlier (yes really) as I could have turned it into a career, at least for the 15 or so years where that was viable until AI came around. I just really resent that my whole life I have had to teach myself everything and have had to slowly stumble through figuring it out with only the internet to piece things together.
no internet
reading books outside of school curriculum as soon as id learned how to read
convince my parents to socialise me as a male because female specialisation is bad for girls, makes them more vulnerable
better eating habits
yeah that's it. nice post btw
Better access to healthcare.
I wish I had played baseball instead of soccer
I wish I had eaten more so I didn't stunt my growth
I wish I wore my retainer
Would be nice if I could have skipped the leftist phase and chosen a more useful university degree
I wish I would have been pushed harder in general. It would not have been a huge thing, but if I had put in a little more work I could have been an ok basketball player instead of a bad one. I could have been top 15% percentile academically instead of in the 20's.
These things wouldn't make a huge difference in my life at all and I'm fine, my parents were just not ambitious at all. My moms only ambition was for me to be as big a fox news focus on the family evangelical as she is.
I wish my parents had gotten me psychiatric help for my obvious mental health issues and social deficits. Maybe then I wouldn't have ended up a shutin neet incel whose only connection to the outside world is posting on obscure altchans
