Why has every municipal parks department become so fixated on events that promote sodomy and cultural Balkanization? Is there something about municipal politics that allows out-of-touch old women to take the reigns more easily than they seem to in e.g. regional and federal politics?

I’d say it’s the opposite of balkanization. All these government departments are acting the exact same. Maybe these largely pointless jobs acctract largely pointless people enforcing their stupid orthodoxy because, hey, it’s transcendent to them.

It would not be that's department that makes those decisions. That would come from the elected council.
