Maná - En El Muelle De San Blás
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teprNzF6J1I
It’s a Mexican song from 1998 telling the story of a woman waiting for her lover to return home to her.
>The song was inspired by Rebeca Méndez Jiménez, a woman in Nayarit, Mexico. In 1971 she said goodbye to her fiancé Manuel, a foreign fisherman she was set to marry four days later. As he was returning from his fishing trip, the storm Priscilla struck the area, possibly killing him, though his body was never found. Rebeca Méndez Jiménez waited for him for 41 years (1971–2012) at the pier of San Blas. She was nicknamed the “Loca del Muelle de San Blas” by the locals because she often dressed as a bride.
>In 1997, Fernando Olvera, the lead singer of the group Maná, visited the pier, crossed paths with Rebeca, asked her about her story, and decided to turn it into a song. Méndez Jiménez died on September 16, 2012, at the age of 63, still waiting for Manuel who never returned.

Just look up whoever you used to listen to on Spotify. Most bands that upload to Bandcamp upload to every streaming service they can, so there's not much exclusivity.
The best way I've found to discover music via Bandcamp is to follow fans and check my feed regularly. Look through the profiles of people who've bought the albums you like, then check out if anything else they've bought interests you (you can listen to tracks right from their profiles), then follow. The easiest thing to look for is albums you have in common, and the more obscure or personal these are to you the better, but you want to follow people who will lead you to albums you wouldn't find otherwise. It can be good to check if somebody follows a lot of bands in their region, for instance. You also wanna follow people who regularly purchase albums.
If you still want recs, what music do you actually like? At least name a few bands or something.
just recovered my bandcamp and ditched using spotify for (probably) good. will probably mostly be burning CDs and pirating music from now on, but anyone got bandcamp-based recs? 99% of my collection is just the entire lil ugly mane discography lol.

I guess I only meant by "bandcamp recs" that I associate it with lesser known artists, versus the big artist platforming which goes on on other streaming sites, and thus might overlook some things on it that I don't listen to already.
Good tip on the profile following.
I'm someone that will generally listen to anything, usually exploring a particular artist or genre and then jumping to a different one. Honestly, since I ditched Spotify, I've been on somewhat of a music hiatus for some reason, mostly trying to cut down on just listening to stuff as background noise. But if you want some names thrown out, I was listening to a lot of Augustus Pablo and Horace Andy when I had a reggae phase (Black Uhuru might be my fav reggae band tho), I find myself going back to Townes van Zandt a lot, Aphex Twin and Bladee are probably my most listened to artists.

Been into this zoomerfied twee duo lately (worldpeace dmt). They kind of remind me of AnCo mixed with some of the cringier Hey-Ho core of the 2010s. I’m not sure if it’s “good” but it’s nice to see something that’s at least different.
Board didn’t let me post the bandcamp link for some reason…
>>13067>>12991 this is how I use letterboxd too. if I like a movie I look at the list of people who have it as one of their top4, find the ones who rated it *lowest* (it’s visible on the list) and then look at what else they’ve seen or rated

Correction, 'GBI' isn't on this album- but it's a good song either way.
I've been listening to the new album 'ZAMBIENT' by Towa Tei recently (see picrel). It's tagged on bandcamp as electronic, ambient and dance. I wouldn't describe it as ambient. It leans experimental, with lots of voice samples taken from god knows where. 'GBI' features Haruomi Hosono and Kylie Minogue, an unusual combination for sure but I find myself liking it. It's a fun listen. I'd recommend it.
