>Do you have purpose?
By it's very nature, purpose is imaginary. It only exists within your head, and can easily escape out of that head. We pick and choose what is most comfortable for us, and call it purpose.
Though if there was anything that could be considered a true purpose, I would consider that it is raising a child of your own. It's the most biologically optimal thing to do, it's what we're designed to do. I myself would love to have kids, but given how costly it is to raise a single kid...well.

Do you consider yourself dependent on others for your purpose?

If I may, "slop like this" is the only thing that gets engagement around here. Look at the current catalog now. Almost consistently, threads that consist of beginning with a question or singular sentence have the most back and forth replies. Nobody cares to respond to diaryposts or wannabe essays. You can effortpost all you want, nobody is stopping you. This thread wasn't perfect; a yes or no question tends to not garner great replies. I'm mostly just curious to how people will respond to anything.
can we go back to making effortposts, im sorry for calling them corny and making fun of the prose, they're 100 times better than slop like this

>>12779 I’m not talking about essays I just mean like more than one sentence. At the bare minimum, if you’re going to ask a vague open ended question you should provide your own opinion

I like to listen rather than hear myself prattle, we might differ on that though

Are your things tangible, like make a chair? Or do you mean, make a family, make a million, etc?
Yes, I definitely have a purpose, a set of things I want to create. I would really like to get around to it before I die. That is sort of keeping me going forward in the moment instead of sinking into a puddle.

Also, I like that you say these things prevent you from "sinking into a puddle". I'm a bit puddle bound at the moment, which is why I made this thread.

Yes, they are tangible creative pursuits (writing, drawing, programming)

Wife and I decided we wanted to have kids eventually, then later that year (last year) she accidentally got pregnant. We realized there was no real reason beyond keeping our youth or whatever to not go ahead with the pregnancy, so we welcomed our daughter this summer.
It gives you a purpose in a very literal way. The money I make at work will go towards this child's future as much as possible. Paying down current debts is needed for this child, not just for my own financial comfort. My time will mostly be dedicated to caring for my child and ensuring she is engaged with her world and her parents. My life should be looked at as a mechanical instrument for my child's benefit, even when considering personal enrichment or skill growth. For example, I'd like to learn piano (not that I have a lot of time to learn atm), not just because it sounds like a rich and enriching hobby to engage in for myself, but it would also give my child the opportunity to learn an instrument at a very young age which will hopefully lead to other positive effects down the road.
I think that's about a clear a purpose as I've ever had in my life. Whether or not I fulfill that purpose is another question.
My purpose is to join my Lord in Heaven.

I am American I get entitlements. But yes I brought up transience because they aren't always enough. I asked about your gender because it makes that lifestyle harder; it wasn't to suggest that

I find I am more isolated when doing things, so it is easy to lose direction and get distracted. I would love to find a group, even online, so we can work together.

No, not a purpose really, and anytime I do, it really just fizzles out.
Why does it fizzle out? You start questioning it, or do you just run out of steam?
