Friend gifted me a National Geographic subscription a couple years ago, some kind of multi-year package and I never bothered renewing it myself for some reason when it ended. A few years later I jst suddenly miss having a magazine delivered and reading n looking at something nice and new every now and then. Are stories still serialized in the magazines?? I'm just looking for a mag that's well edited. Print or digital is fine though I prefer print. Could be about anything (nature, science, art, whatever). So what's good out there?

Pic related has some good recs for (mostly literary) magazines from /lit/. Can't vouch for all of them, but I've read good stuff in Granta, the Stinging Fly, DIAGRAM, and Joyland.
If you want a neat one-off literary magazine, there was a best-of compilation of some writing from /lit/ a couple years ago, which is in print:

I'm broke but subscribe to The Baffler and Wired. Not sure either are worth it even though they are relatively cheap. Wired print edition is thin and infrequent, and Baffler essays start to sound the same after a while. I'll probably switch to LRB and New Yorker when I get the money up.

ASTERISK MAG
For me, it's N+1, The New Yorker, and The Economist. My favorite "magazine" is Apartamento, but it's published biannually, so not really great for a "regular" read. And it's more of a book of interviews than a magazine.

Delayed Gratification magazine is a fun one to shift perspective, provided you really commit to dropping your present news consumption. Now I only hear about dumb controversies from the current events round of a bimonthly trivia I go to.
