I worked with a guy who was in the Navy in the 80s he said he would never join today. He said it really used to be an adventure where you went and saw the world and now it's just rules, training, qualifications, and general bureaucratic hell. You used to visit dozens of countries and get a week+ off at port. Now if you're lucky you'll get a 4-5 stops for a few days each at best

I like how they used to give them a daily ration of rum then they stopped in the 70s because life has to be as boring and sterile as possible

They should've never let women on the boats. Not that they can't do the job but the mixed gender thing just doesn't work in such close quarters. They had to create a bunch of rules because guys kept scaring the hoes.

Everyday which passes, I realize my unhappiness comes from attempting to move beyond my caste. I don't blame my parents for wanting me to do great things, but they should've realized I wasn't cut out for it. I am weak, in mind and spirit. I'm meant for the yoke.
