This was the jazz album that really "introduced" me to the genre. Yeah, I love older jazz, with its more distinct sensibilities. It's bold. Makes you understand why people really felt blown away when they first heard it.
Thanks for the rec. I just listened to this album. I am not as learned of a jazzhead as I should be, but most of my jazz listening has been 70s stuff and latin mixes. There's something very forthright about 50s jazz. The drums on Moanin' remind me almost of hard rock drums.

This was the jazz album that really "introduced" me to the genre. Yeah, I love older jazz, with its more distinct sensibilities. It's bold. Makes you understand why people really felt blown away when they first heard it.
I also wish that I had the vitality of many lives during this one brief encounter... I find myself interested in so many different things, I despise that our world is engineered to tend towards specialization, though I understand its reasoning.
