Then: Naturally grown weed from diverse places on every continent (and even visiting/touring trips), vibrant subculture, unbelievable explosion in music and art, bespoke and subtle paraphernalia Now: Strip mall generic-yet-trashy dispensaries, asphalt, overpowered chemical science fiction ass strains, neon science experiment Rick & Morty dab rigs, slow, moody "alt" cashiers, all the edibles are junk food, KMS!!!!
It is literally impossible for any 'subculture' to become mainstream without it becoming commercial, commodified, and tasteless.
Weed should have neve been legalised then it would have retained the cool vibe. Itβs part of the fat woman with ear gauges/healing crystal/rescue husky milieu now.
Weed subculture was never cool there were just cool people who also smoked weed.
i'm sorry you fags need to time travel back to 1998. go sit in some dealer's disgusting living room for 3 hours because he's only guy holding at the moment and he wants you to watch reruns with him none of you stupid motherfuckers understand how BAD it was, i don't give a shit about legalization being uncool. i get drug-tested for work all the time and it's legal now. shut the fuck up, god damn
I remember the paranoia being bad. Once in a while, a friend of a friend would get arrested, and if the friend knew you had sold any, you might expect a visit from the cops. Also phone taps if you were close to a bigger one. This was no fun. Like a duller Philip K. Dick atmosphere.
The dispo weed they are engineering is stupid strong and will induce schizophrenia in me within one inhalation. I don't do much marijuana these days because of all the times I tried making it click, but instead ended up feeling like everyone could read my mind for four hours. If I have some dirt weed, or hemp, aka cbd weed, then I'm fine. I think my bodily receptors are not very compatible with THC, however.
>>2153 Unsurprising with the way growers are conducting chemical warfare with high THC non-existent CBD strains. Professional stoners have brought it upon themselves. The grey market "hemp" growers who still retain all the cannabinoids are making much more interesting product, as opposed to what passes for weed nowadays, which is effectively a plant-based lobotomy.
>>2196 I've heard about this, not a positive development. Say one were interested in the less schizophrenogenic strains of cannabis, what would one look for? As I understand it, the less THC spells less risk of mental illness later on. It does worry me, seeing people I know get more into the high-THC stuff. I myself have never smoked cannabis because I have the sense that the sensation of stoned-ness would be unpleasant--like chemical cosh--a gauze rag over my senses--which sounds unpleasant. I would rather drink alcohol in moderate-to-liberal amounts because it's a life enhancer, makes me less inhibited, and accentuates whatever emotions I am feeling when I drink it (happy or sad), and makes conversation flow easier. I don't know if that makes me a bon vivant; I think a bon vivant has to know about different kinds of wine, where I just drink whatever is offered.
Important to note that schizophrenia is not a coherent mental illness. It's based on the physicalist/materialist assumptions that consciousness is caused by brain activity (not supported by empirical data), and disregards the truly strange first-person aspects of being in the transliminal state. Basically, >All that exists is consciousness/mind >This original consciousness has dissociated into countless alter egos (like a human with D.I.D.) >The physical world is a mental representation of dissociated thoughts, feelings, ideas and other primary mental phenomena >The normal human mind is a very immersive container that strongly filters out the Original Mind's thoughts, etc. >Psychs, weed, and tweaking for days without sleep will severely weaken the filters effects >in essence, everyone is a schizo, especially children, but it's expected for children to hallucinate (see things in their Mind's Eye/Imagination) >Adults don't take children seriously here, life goes on >If you re-experience this weakened filter state (called "transliminality") as an adult, it usually leads to severe dysfunction in daily life >... >"schizophrenia" pic very related
Highly encourage any serious intellectual to consider that modern idealism explains everything that materialism does, but goes farther by coherently explaining many anomalies that we haven't made progress on for some time. NDEs Psychedelics Placebo Effect Psi and many more...
>>2207 A lot of sellers of smokeable "hemp," a legal designation on marijuana under the 0.3% THC regulation (via differentiation in the way THC is classified, vendors may bypass the regulation and can sustain similar THC levels to dispensary products), sell their products online. You can order them right to your doorstep. People online have created three distinctions in their categorization: type I, which is no THC, type 2, which is a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD, and type 3, which is any ratio greater than 1:1 (the dispensary type). I recommend lurking /r/hempflowers; in general, the community kinda sucks and is full of stoner redditors but you don't need it for that, just collect the information available on it. Look for Type 2 strains, and vendors who specialize in those, and bonus points if they have other cannabinoids, such as CBN, etc. I myself prefer alcohol 99% of the time as well, but sometimes weed is a good alternative. I disagree that it is a gauze rag; in fact, I think it heightens one's sensitivity, which is why I frequently dislike it.
